Our Partner in Kenya’s water project provides the main water source for 10-year-old Rabia’s village.
Prior to the installation of this water source, Rabia had to share her time between school and house chores so she could help fetch water for the family.
‘I used to follow other women in the village looking for water, sometimes going to the river which is three kilometers away from our home,’ she said. The trip was dangerous for a young girl to take, but Rabia felt pressure to provide water for her family. As a result, she missed lots of school and study time.
Rabia always wanted to attend school regularly and fully focus on her learning. Now, with a water source in her village, she can!
‘The project has changed my life completely,’ she said. ‘I can concentrate fully on my studies.’
