Prior to meeting our Christian Partner in Kenya, Agnes’ family were dependant on one salary which barely catered for their basic needs. The average production of Agnes’ farm each season was two bags of maize and three bags of green grams, which was not enough to feed her family.
After becoming involved in a village savings group and undertaking tree nursery establishment training run by our Partner, Agnes purchased seeds and potting bags to establish her own tree nursery.
The trees are now a source of firewood; they boost soil fertility, and she sells the seedlings to earn an income. Agnes’ farm now produces 10 bags of maize and 12 bags of green grams! She can also afford to send her children to school, and the family eats three nutritious meals each day.
