Despite the civil unrest and logistical difficulties in Papua New Guinea, we’re grateful to share that a second shipment of food and essential supplies has reached affected communities, made possible through the dedication of our local Christian Partner and the generosity of supporters like you.

Around one year ago on 24 May, deadly landslides displaced 1,600 people in Papua New Guinea’s Enga province, leaving families without homes, food, or basic necessities.

Thanks to your support, our local Partner has been able to respond swiftly by working with a network of churches that connect Christians in times of disaster.

By joining forces, our local Partner is not only addressing immediate needs but also contributing to long-term community development, equipping local leaders, and strengthening resilience in the community.

Through our collective efforts, our Partner has delivered critical aid, including food, mattresses and blankets, second-hand clothes and emergency equipment.

One Partner staff member shared this message of gratitude: The community leaders, ward councillors, mothers, youths, and children from both affected and host communities deeply appreciated and thanked us for delivering relief supplies at a time when they were really in need of food.

The Challenges Ahead

Delivering aid to impacted communities remains difficult due to roadblocks, deteriorating infrastructure, and ongoing security threats. Violence, including the burning of vehicles and gunfire exchanges, continues to pose risks for transport routes.

Our Partner in Papua New Guinea has asked for your prayers:

  • For security—that food and essential supplies can reach those in need, avoiding danger. ‘We are still faced with security issues along the highway and with the affected people,’ said our Partner.
  • For affected communities—that they would find strength, resilience, and healing in the aftermath of the disaster.
  • For peace—‘we need peace in that part of the country so that relief support can continue without any obstacles.’

Why Your Support Matters

Papua New Guinea is one of the world’s most disaster-prone countries, frequently impacted by earthquakes, cyclones, storms, volcanic eruptions, floods, and landslides.

Despite being a country of tremendous natural wealth, many people live subsistence lifestyles and rely directly on the land for survival, making them especially vulnerable when disaster strikes.

Unfortunately, government investment in disaster preparedness is inconsistent and limited, leaving many communities without adequate support when crises occur.

This is why your generosity is so valuable. Your donations aren’t just providing emergency relief, but together with other Christian organisations. We’re helping communities recover and rebuild.

Thank you for your continued support. If you are able, please consider making another gift to support even more communities impacted by emergencies. Every contribution makes a difference to those affected.
