Tuna, olive oil, dates, zaatar and tins of meat—these are just some of the long shelf-life local staples our Partner is providing to displaced people in Lebanon each month, thanks to donations from our supporters.
It’s been over a year since conflict between Israel and militant group Hezbollah created further displacement in Lebanon, forcing hundreds of thousands of civilians from their homes.
Families are still living in great uncertainty despite a ceasefire being negotiated in November last year, with airstrikes and military operations occurring almost daily across the country.
More than 90,000 people are still displaced and there are still significant population movements across the border with Syria. Around 960,000 civilians have returned home to Lebanon, although many have come back to find their houses looted, badly damaged or destroyed.
Increasing Aid To Meet Continuing Demand
This is why simple yet nourishing food like tins of tuna are so important.
When we launched an appeal to help families in Lebanon meet their needs through the work of our local Christian Partner, supporters like you helped provide non-perishable ready-to-eat food packages filled with items like tuna, sardines, sugar, olive oil, salt, biscuits, dates, tea, zaatar, processed cheese, instant noodles, and canned meat.

Our Partner originally planned to provide 3,000 boxes a month to families in need. But with a growing number of families in need of food, our Partner has been able to increase their food distribution to 5,000 packages a month with priority given to the most vulnerable households, such as those caring for a person with a disability.
This is on top of earlier distributions of items like mattresses, blankets, pillows, nappies, stoves and emergency lights, which helped displaced families survive while living far from home.
How You Can Pray For Lebanon
The tentative ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah is fragile—on 1 April, an Israeli airstrike hit a building in Beirut, killing at least four people.
Such uncertainty means there’s a great deal of need in Lebanon amongst those who have been displaced and those who have returned home. Please pray for:
- Protection from harm – with airstrikes continuing in the country, pray that civilians and our Partner’s staff members would be safe.
- Safe delivery of food packages – military operations and barricades have been hindering the delivery of aid in certain regions, pray that aid would reach those who need it.
- Children to thrive – displacement puts a child’s wellbeing, health and education in jeopardy. Pray for our Partners as they support children in such difficult circumstances.
- Peace in the region – pray that God would bring about an end to conflict in the region, so families can live in peace and safety.
We thank God for your generosity and faithfulness in supporting families during this crisis. If you can donate again to help our Partners meet people’s ongoing needs in Lebanon, please do so here.
May this region know genuine peace soon, so that families can experience the fullness of life God intends.
