YOUR FAITH IN ACTION

Help Communities Survive Disasters

Some of the world’s most vulnerable communities live in regions with the highest risk of disasters, such as floods, earthquakes, famine and conflict. When an event occurs, these families don’t just struggle to survive; they also lose the resources they have, which further entrenches them in poverty. Without help, a disaster becomes a humanitarian crisis.

By supporting the work of our local Christian Partners and their network of churches in countries like Lebanon, Sudan, Ukraine and Myanmar, you’ll help communities survive conflict, be prepared for future disasters, and rebuild when disasters occur.

Together with your church, you’ll help fund:

  • Emergency responses – help our Partners provide humanitarian aid quickly when a disaster or conflict strikes, including food, medicine, shelter items, hygiene kits, blankets and clean water.
  • Disaster preparedness – support programs that prepare communities for future disasters through training (e.g. first aid courses and emergency drills) and disaster risk reduction plans.
  • Recovery efforts – after a disaster, our Partners help communities rebuild structures, improve their food security and regain their livelihoods, so they aren’t left behind in the fight against poverty.
  • Mental health support – our Partners train volunteers to provide counselling for people who experience trauma after a disaster, so they can heal and increase their resilience.

Prayer Points

Pray for our Partners’ work

Please join us in prayer for our local Christian Partners and the communities they serve.

  • Lord, please protect vulnerable families facing disasters and keep them safe in times of crisis. Guide local leaders and volunteers as they respond to the needs of their communities.
  • Father God, thank you for the disaster preparation work our Partners do, in partnership with local churches. Please equip those who are vulnerable with the knowledge and resources they need to prepare for future disasters and stay safe.
  • Creator God, provide timely aid, relief, and support to those affected by floods, famine, conflict, and other emergencies. Bring comfort, hope, and healing to families who have lost loved ones, homes, or livelihoods.
  • Lord, please walk with communities that are still recovering from a major disaster. Continue to sustain them as they rebuild their homes and their livelihoods.
  • Lord, thank you for local churches around the world who respond quickly when a disaster strikes their region. Please protect them as they serve and provide them with strength and wisdom so they can effectively meet people’s needs.
