We’ve finished our big adventure!
We’ve just finished walking the Camino de Santiago – a 800km pilgrimage in the north of Spain – to raise money for the escalating humanitarian and refugee crisis currently unfolding in Syria and Iraq.
Help us reach our $50,000 target!
Why Camino de Santiago?
People have walked the Camino de Santiago for over 1000 years to demonstrate devotion to their faith, to pay respect to nature, and to embark on a journey of personal growth. It is a journey for the spirit and soul that millions of travellers complete year after year.
The pilgrimage is taken on foot. Dating back to medieval times where walking was, largely, a necessity for poorer pilgrims who could not afford to make the journey by horseback.
We set off from St Jean Pied de Port in France, at the foothills of the Pyrenees, and finished in Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
We completed the 800km journey in just under six weeks – it was huge but so rewarding!
Why support the Middle East Crisis?
We were very keen to walk the Camino with purpose. The simplicity of the Camino is one of the greatest things about it. Away from the daily tasks of life we only needed to consider the distance we walked, the food we ate, the water we drank, and finding a place to sleep each night. Everything we needed was carried on our backs.
After six years of fighting, 6.5 million people have fled their homes and remain displaced in Syria. Another 4.9 million people have left the nation entirely, often with nothing more than the clothes on their back.
Throughout the journey, we reflected on the many families in the Middle East that are walking to find food, clean water, shelter, and medical care.
Two pilgrimages. Worlds apart.
We were compelled by the example and words of Jesus Christ to show love, mercy, and compassion to the millions of people in the Middle East who need life-saving assistance. That’s why we decided to take this journey.
Thank you for supporting us in our adventure and helping make a difference for families in desperate need!
How can you help?
Please donate any amount you can and partner with us in this trek to bring change.
- $150 can provide families with primary healthcare through mobile medical clinics
- $240 can provide clean water and toilets for displaced families and stop disease
- $600 can provide basic shelter kits, blankets, and mattresses for families without a home
Please pray for us as we continue to raise awareness and support those in need.
