CAMINO DAY TWENTY EIGHT

Molinaseca to Villafranca del Bierzo 32 km
Adjusted actual 33 km

“We do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” 2 Corinthians 4:16 NIV

This seemed an appropriate verse to wake up to this morning. Yesterday taxed the emotions and the body with mountains to traverse. Today we had a 30km+ walk to take and it would again test physical endurance. We feel a little as if our outer bodies are struggling.

We walked with our friends S & R for the last time, as tomorrow we take a rest day and they keep moving. It will be sad to say goodbye as they have been terrific trail buddies. We have taken turns cheering each other on and shared stories of life together. We will keep in touch.

We walked through villages, vineyards, along open roads and the Way seemed endless today. The sun got hotter and it was in the high 20’s when we arrived after 9 hours of walking (with a few stops along the way).

Highlights: We had the energy to walk more than 30km (a miracle for me to be honest) friends to share the day with, Camino friends we meet along the way and constantly say hi to, we have no more 30km days!!(woohoo) , feet are still going well, Karen’s leg is doing great! And we emersed our feet in cold water for 20 minutes when we arrived… bliss.

Reflection: We walked past many field workers today trimming vines and tilling soil. In life God prunes the bad away from us and brings new growth. He is the gardener of our soul.
I listened to worship music for a number of the tough afternoon hours. The truth of worship music renews our heart and inspires our soul. It is of huge value.
We have appreciated the comments and messages that many people have put on facebook over the past days and it has meant so much to us. In life we need the encouragement of others to boost our spirits.

Thanks for checking in again…don’t forget to make a donation to the Syrian Refugees whom we are representing on this trek. We need the help of everyone donating if we are going to reach our target.
