“No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.” Hebrews 12:11 NLT

What a pertinent verse to read. The pain has been real but today was a glorious walking day. The landscape was (fairly) flat, temp about 20°C, we were refreshed from a day off and set off feeling pretty good. A shorter walking day also helped.

Today we left behind the built environments and entered the relative wilderness of the Meseta lands. We start to cross the endless crop fields – wheat, barley and oats and come across shepherds and flocks. There is little or no shade so protection from sun is vital.

Highlights.: Warm weather, the stunning Cathedral as we exited the city lof Burgos,, fresh orange juice at morning tea (becoming a favourite), lovely small Albergue with only 10 beds tonight!!

Reflections: We had a lovely 36 hrs in Burgos where Mark had a hair and beard trim ( a first for him ) and we rested deeply. In life, we need to read the signs and rest when necessary. A sabbath is a godly idea and an excellent rhythm for living well.
We found a great cafe (Ceasar Cafeteria) nearby and went three times… we became friends with the young owner. He spoke no english but by the end it was Adios Amigo. In life we communicate more with non verbal than verbal language. How are we coming across to others?
The sun shone today and our hearts felt lighter. In life, we need to celebrate the good times and soak them in. They will give us strength for hardships to come.

Praying for each of you today:
For enough hardships for you to rely on God, enough experiences to strengthen you and enough blessing for you to celebrate His goodness.
