CAMINO DAY EIGHT
A day of rest in Logrono 4km sightseeing
The verse of the day was extremely apt when we woke and read it this morning:
Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
We are taking a rest day here in Logrono today and have just slept for 12 hours! It was so nice to not have to wake early and we have taken things slowly. We went to the main Cathedral and spent some time thinking and praying. The service was in Spanish so it was just nice to reflect a little on my own.
My thoughts went to those fleeing Syria at this time and what they must be going through. Their journey will be longer than ours and they have many years of hardship ahead. For those who find assylum in camps, they can expect to be there for the next 15 years…the volume of people is so great to deal with. Those people must be longing for rest…rest from hardship, rest from sorrow, rest from loss of all they have known, rest from the concern of an unknown future.
Dear Lord, bring rest to those refugees who through no fault of their own are victims of the time and places in which they lived. Bring them grace today and rest in you. May those who can, reach out to help those who have nothing. For those caring for these people and providing support for them, bring blessings upon them too we pray. May their burden seem lighter today.
We are pausing now to remember them as they are a big part of why we are walking this pilgrimage.
Thanks for pausing with us.
