On December 17, a magnitude-7.3 earthquake shook Vanuatu’s capital city, Port Vila. With communications down, the full extent of devastation is still unclear. But there’s widespread destruction in Port Vila and the surrounding neighbourhood.

Rescuers are working to reach people trapped under flattened buildings. Families have been left homeless, and the community is in chaos as communications, roads, water supply, and other infrastructure are affected.

Our neighbours in Vanuatu need us. Will you help with a gift today?

I WANT TO HELP

Australians have strong ties to the people of Vanuatu, and Baptist World Aid has a history of support in the Pacific, helping communities build their resilience in the face of disasters and poverty.

Your gift today will go to our Disaster Action Fund, through which we can equip local Partners in Vanuatu and beyond to respond during crises like these.

I’LL GIVE

This time of year is often when earthquakes, cyclones, fires and floods strike our most vulnerable global neighbours, which is why funding our Disaster Action Fund is critical.

In the event this appeal raises more funds than needed for our response in Vanuatu, extra funds will be directed to disaster responses where the need is greatest.

I WANT TO GIVE

As always, we pray that God would mobilise his people to help those who need it most at this time. Please pray with us, as we trust in the sovereign goodness of our God.
