Right now, Tinsley’s health workers DO NOT have enough personal protective equipment (PPE) to keep them safe. The hospital is facing immediate closure and staff sent home simply due to a lack of PPE. The situation in PNG is dire and they need our immediate help.
The hospital serves approximately 40,000 people. Without the hospital, there will be no help for those who have contracted COVID-19. The virus will likely spread unchecked throughout Western Highlands Province adding immense pressure to an already struggling health system.
The PPE is available but must be paid for and transported from Goroka, several hours away. The sooner we act, the sooner we can keep Tinsley Rural Hospital open.
Please give now and help the Baptist hospitals of our nearest neighbour.
