A breakdown in the Cambodia-Thailand ceasefire has renewed intense fighting between the two nations. So far, at least half a million people have been forced to flee their homes—including many of our Child Partners and their families in Northern Cambodia.

I WANT TO HELP

To escape violent conflict, around 90 per cent of our Child Partners and their families from districts along the Cambodia-Thailand border have been displaced from their homes, with many now living in displacement camps.

These children and their families have experienced significant trauma and distress. Schools have been closed, and families are at risk of losing their homes, farmland and harvests that are a vital part of the family’s livelihood.

Thanks to existing sponsorship support, community-based volunteers who serve alongside our local Christian Partner have already started providing psychological support to children and their families, to help them get through this difficult time.

Our Partner is asking for $15,000 to help fund their response at this time. Can you give over and above your Child Sponsorship to help provide:

  • Food to protect children from malnourishment, and
  • Resources for children to continue learning, so they don’t miss out on education while away from home.
GIVE NOW

May God be with families who are affected by this conflict. Please join us in praying for:

  • Child Sponsors—give thanks for the support of existing Sponsors of children in Cambodia. Through our Partners they’ve helped communities gain skills and strengthen resilience to navigate this challenging time.
  • Peace and protection – an end to conflict between Cambodia and Thailand, so families can return home
  • Provision for displaced families – that they would have access to food, clean water and sanitation, especially children who are most vulnerable at this time.
  • Strength for our Partners and their volunteers – ask God for safety, wisdom and resilience as they meet people’s needs.
