On 31 August, a deadly magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck the Kunar, Nangarhar and Laghman provinces in eastern Afghanistan, followed by 5.6 and 6.2 earthquakes in the following days.

An estimated 2,200 people have been killed, over 3,600 have been injured and more than 6,700 homes have been destroyed. Whole villages have been lost, and thousands of families urgently need emergency assistance.

I WANT TO HELP

The earthquakes have struck communities that are already incredibly vulnerable. Approximately half the population of Afghanistan rely on humanitarian aid due to conflict, displacement, disasters and poor economic conditions.

At the same time, aid funding for Afghanistan has shrunk significantly, especially with recent USAID funding cuts. This makes it even harder for families to recover from the impact of these earthquakes.

Our local Partner is providing emergency support to families, so they can meet their needs in the aftermath.

Your financial gift through our Disaster Action Fund could help these families access essentials such as food and clothing, so they have the best chance of survival.

Join us as we respond to this unfolding tragedy and come to the aid of those who need it most.
