I don’t know about you, but I begin every new year in the same way – full of ambitious resolutions and good intentions. Conversely, I see most old years out in familiar, dazed confusion… and wondering where the time has gone.
I am terrible at keeping New Year’s Resolutions.
This year, I’ve chosen extra sleep over reading my Bible on the train more than once; my determination to take a photo a day waned way back in February; and I now weigh considerably more than I did at the start of 2018 – which certainly was not my intent!
And, yet, here I am at the precipice of another New Year, about to share with you my first resolution for 2019.
“It’s madness!” I can hear you thinking… “Don’t commit!”
But this is one New Year’s Resolution that I desperately want to keep.
Today, Baptist World Aid launched a new website feature: a simple fundraising tool that will allow me – and you – to help end poverty. Through it, there are many ways to fundraise, but there was one idea that really caught my eye…
I already have everything I need. I already have more than I need. So, this year, instead of accepting birthday presents, I’ll be asking my friends and loved ones to give to a cause that’s near to my heart instead.
This year, I intend to celebrate a birthday with a difference.
And, so, my first New Year’s Resolution of 2019 is this: to donate my 35th birthday and help end poverty.
If you’d like to join me in making this one of your own resolutions for 2019, why not check out the new fundraising tool on the Baptist World Aid website… and celebrate your next birthday with a difference, too!
